Shawn
Keough is the Idaho State
Senator for
Legislative District
One which includes northern
Bonner and Boundary Counties in northern Idaho.
First
elected in 1996, Senator Keough is serving her seventh term.
Senator Keough serves on the Joint Finance and Appropriations
Committee
and is vice-chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. Senator
Keough also serves on the Senate Transportation Committee. For six years Senator
Keough served as Co-Chair of the Joint Legislative
Oversight Committee which oversees the Legislature's Office
of Performance Evaluations. During the summer
of 2005, Senator Keough was appointed to serve as Co-Chair
of the Legislative
Interim Committee on Property Taxes.
Senator
Keough's legislative priorities have been and continue to
be education, transportation and issues that help rural Idaho.
As with most of Idaho's "citizen legislators," Shawn works the remainder of the year in the private sector. Currently, Shawn is the executive director for the Associated Logging Contractors, an organization of independent logging contractors with whom she has worked since 2000. Shawn's work experience over the last 25 years is in the fields of business management and public relations.
Shawn's
main focus in life is her marriage to her husband of 22 years,
Michael, and their two children at their home in Kootenai,
Idaho.
